Welcome to the Cafe
Santa Fe Doll Museum © DLMRhodes
Good morning. (Yes. I take pictures of dolls; no, I don't know why).
The Cafe is open for us to comment on and share all things real life in this unreal time. While I will focus a little on the inequities of life with the pandemic, I will also share what's going on in my boring social distancing days. I hope you will too. This is a spot where we can share pictures and keep each other company.
Today I met with two of my professor friends on zoom. It was ridiculously nice to see them while we talked. Although we have been texting like mad, the zoom face to face was much more rewarding. We talked about our efforts to fit our upcoming classes into distance learning formats without making y'all (or us) overwhelmed. I also dug out my light kit to begin setting up an impromptu 'studio' to record respectable video. I tried not to watch much tv because it's scary to watch everything shutting down.
I spent more time on FaceBook than I usually do. From once a week or so to all day long! Answering weird questionnaires and sharing funny videos. Keeping in touch.
We actually took our dogs for a drive this afternoon. Lots of people were out walking - and we were all waving at each other. The pups were very happy to look out the windows.
I've read a bunch of fanfic, too. My daughter has us on lockdown because we are old and have preexisting health stuff. I love it when my kids are bossy. Comment, y'all.
I love this! Hope you're enjoying your time indoors with your family and pups!

I definitely can relate about the difference seeing people face to face even if it is through FaceTime or Zoom makes in comparison to asynchronous texting. Very happy to hear you have been keeping busy with your pups and hobbies. -Wendy
